Robin Williams July 21, 1951 - August 11, 2014

While watching the news today, a very depressing story came on.

Headlines read Robin Williams, dead at 63..

My heart dropped at the thought of this wonderful comedian and actor passing.

To me all his work had an effect in my life so it really saddens me to hear this news.

I remember wishing I can meet him within my lifetime, but unfortunately that can no longer happen.

I remember watching Mrs. Doubtfire and it gave me hope and kept me happy when my parents were going through marital problems.

I remember during that dark time when I would watch that movie with my dad, he told me he would do the same thing Robin Williams did in the movie. Which at the time made me feel happy that my dad would do what Robin Williams would do.

I remember at one point in time Jumanji was my favorite movie, I had the VHS cassette of the movie and I would watch it over and over. I loved the movie and I loved seeing Robin Williams act like a hero in the movie.

I remember watching Aladdin so much when I was younger. Robin Williams voiced Genie in the movie and that movie gave me hope for love and romantic ideals. It is still one of my favorite Disney movies, I can still recite lines and sing-a-long with the songs.

I also remember watching Dead Poet Society and how it made me open up to the idea of Carpe Diem...

I remember watching Hook (my favorite childhood story was Peter Pan) and it made me love and appreciate my father as a hero. Robin Williams played a father going to rescue his children, something that made me feel happy in a dark time...

There are many other movies that Williams did that I love but these are my favorites...

You will be missed Robin Willaims...

My Thanksgiving

This Thanksgiving holiday was fun for me. I enjoyed eating good food and spending time with all my family. Every Thanksgiving and Easter I go to my grandmother's house to eat and talk to my Dad's side of the family. After we eat we always either pull out the old photo albums or my dad and his brothers discuss things they used to do when they were little. Which is good and it makes me realize they lived the definition of YOLO. They did things like mooning people, fight, jump off cliffs into the water, surf, and constantly go on adventures. It makes me realize how Americanized I am. I can't do the things my dad and mom did because they lived in another country. They had fun and ran wild, I'd be look down upon by society if I acted like how my dad was. I mean I could try to do things like he did but the way the law is and where I am, it may not work that way

Google makes you stupid

Admit it, when you quickly want answers the first thing you do is pick up your smartphone/tablet/laptop and google your questions. An article by a Nicholas Carr states "As the Internet becomes our primary source of information, it is affecting our ability to read books and other long narratives. I believe he makes sense. We have changed due to the use of technology. I mean come on I know one of you out there have picked up your smartphone once and used autocorrect to know how to properly spell a word, I know I have. Or googled a question for a term paper and took the easy way of writing research papers. I feel because of the technological advances we as a society have become lazy. We shouldn't all depend on our autocorrect. I remember being in Elementary School study my behind off to learn ten new vocab words and take a test at the end of the week. What ever happened to that? Now kids can just pull out their phone and just type a word misspelled and a CPU will automatically fix it. Not Fair

Kids shouldn't depend on it or use there text lingo (LOL,LMAO,TTYL) so much. It really will effect their writing and grammar skills. I heard that last year, the Florida Standardized writing test aka Writing FCAT had to lower the passing rate because too many kids had low scores. Geez
